ARTISANS
the premier art gallery in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California
Viola Pace
I have always had a love of nature and nature crafts. When I started doing pine needle coiling in 2004, I was surrounded by one trees.
I learned that pine needle coiling was a pre-Columbian art for and actually pre-dates pottery. ? originally I practiced making functional forms, but quickly evolved in a more free sculptural form. These are all made from the needles of our local pine trees and then treated with polyurethane to preserve them.
