 Charlie Bui searches for beauty in the everyday. As a Vietnamese war refugee and immigrant now residing in Southern California, his photography encapsulates the details of nature, the emotion of scenery, and the vibrancy of life. Enveloped in a passion for creativity from his youth, Charlie expressed himself through many mediums such as painting and wood carving before falling deep into photography. He combines his love for art with a yearning for experiences. 

Whether in a village in his home country or a dark room at his residence, Charlie works to bring his audience an impressionable instance. He wants to convey the full range of emotions and invoke real feelings in these snapshots of reality. He believes appreciation for life can go as deep as a curiosity of a foreign culture or as simple as an admiration of a color. For Charlie, it doesn’t always have to be a perfect shot. At times, memorable moments can be found in the ordinary, and this is what makes art extraordinary.
